Prof Richard Rose

Professor of Inclusive Education, University of Northampton

Richard Rose is Professor of Inclusive Education and Director of the Centre for Education and Research at the University of Northampton.He has previously held posts as a teacher and Principal in schools and has worked as a tutor and researcher at the Universities of Birmingham and Leicester. He also held a position as Visiting Professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. His funded research as Principal Investigator includes:
•    Project IRIS: A longitudinal study over three years examining how special education is provided within Irish schools, the experiences of pupils/students with special education needs receiving this education and their associated outcomes.   Funded by the National Council for Special Educational Needs. (Irish Government) (2009 – 2012) £400,000
•    A Value for Money and Policy Review Initiative, Special Needs Assistant Scheme. Funded by the Department of Education and Science, Ireland, Dublin. (2008 – 2009) £40,000

Professor, Department of Psychology, Federal University of São Carlos (1989-current). Operates in the Graduate Program in Special Education (MA and Ph.D.). Leader of the Research Group on Human Resources Development in Special Education (GP-FOREESP) and National Observatory of Special Education (Oneesp). Productivity Research Fellow of the National Council for Research and Technological Development (CNPq), 1C level. President of the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Special Education (ABPEE). Internships abroad (the United States and Peru), and post-doctoral fellow at Université Paris V-Sorbonne in France (2007-2008). Works in the area of Special Education and Inclusive Education, conducts research about educational policy and training professionals to work with students with disabilities.

Profa Liz Todd

Liz
Professor of Inclusive Education, Newcastle University
Prof Todd was chosen for her long standing career in the field of inclusive and special education. She has carried out research in the UK and internationally and published widely. Liz is Professor of Inclusive Education, Deputy Research Director, and Deputy Director of the SOLE Central university research centre (into technology enhanced learning), member of the reearch centre in learning and teaching, and Director of Engagement and Impact. She has successfully supervised numerous (more than 20) doctoral degrees and she has acted as a mentor for many beginning researchers. She has previously held posts as a teacher and educational psychologist in schools and has worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. As a senior researcher from Federal University of São Carlos, Prof. Almeida can provide a significant contribution to building researcher links considering mainly her wide international network and experience in the field of Inclusion and Special Education. She holds degrees in Anglo-Portuguese Literature by Universidade Estadual de Londrina (1975), Master in Special Education at George Peabody College for Teachers (1980 – USA), Ph.D. in Special Education – Vanderbilt University (1987-USA) and Postdoctoral Fellow in Special Education the University of Georgia (2002). Is Associate Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos. Professor of the Graduate Program in Special Education and Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. Was Coordinator of Degree in Special Education and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Special Education during periods of: 10/2002 to 10/2004; 10/2004 10/2006 to; 10/2006 to 04/2008. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Special Education and the Brazilian Journal of Special Education. Reviewer of several Brazilian journals. President of the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Education-Special ABPEE – Management: January / December 2008/2009. Dra Cristina Devecchi

Associate Professor, University of Northampton

Dr. Devecchi has been chosen for her knowledge and experience in the field of inclusion and special education, particularly in the field of school organisation and human resource management. She has carried out research in the UK and abroad and is currently principal investigator in a EU funded project on re-engaging early school leavers through volunteering and mentoring (www.supportatschool.eu). Dr Devecchi is the deputy director of the Centre for Special Needs Education and Research (CeSNER), responsible for the admission and support of over 40 PhD students and the management of their supervisors. She is currently supervising 8 PhD students and mentoring early career researchers and colleagues in the Initial Teacher Training department. Dr Devecchi also mentored one of UFSCar’s post doctoral fellows during his fieldwork in the UK, and has already established cooperation, through a Memorandum of Understanding, with the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Faculty of Education. She was a co-ordinator for the Education Thematic group of the Human Development and Capability Association where she organised seminars, conference workshops and links between international scholars. She is a member of the British Educational Research Association.

Prof. Cristina Broglia Feitosa de Lacerda

Degree in Phonoaudiology by the University of São Paulo – USP (1984), Master (1992) and Ph.D. (1996) in Education by the State University of Campinas – UNICAMP; and Post Doc at the Center for Italian Research – CNR Roma (2003). Currently is Assistant Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) at the Degree Course in Special Education and the Post-Graduation Program in Special Education Specially – PPGEEs. Experience in the field of Phonoaudiology with emphasis on Deafness and performance in education since 1996 with studies developed in historical and cultural perspective and the assumptions of enunciation-discursive approach. Advice to municipal networks Education for implementation and monitoring of Inclusive Education Bilingual Program in Piracicaba, Campinas, São Paulo and São Carlos. Research’s interest on the role of educational of sign language interpreter.
